What's your band/artist name? Can you tell us a little bit about you and your career/projects so far?
I'm Esther Filly, since 29 years I have been a soul singer and composer from Germany. I travel around the whole world with my songs. Also have a great band. My message is to bring people together, celebrate love with music. I invented the "Ridstyle" that means to free yourself. This is also reflected in all my self-written songs and in my complete lifestyle. Actually I'm currently nominated for the Red Carpet Award International from Holland, for four of my songs and as the most appreciated artist and songwriter in Germany. In May 2022, I were a member of the jury in the biggest music show in the world "All Together Now" on SAT.1. I've done a lot of charity concerts, was in Afghanistan, Irak, Mali. Collected donate for children, old and handicapped people. Also been on stage for the LBGTQ+ community as equality should be the key. Bringing a smile to the soul of the people with music, joy, hope and confidence. Singing for the union of people, completely detached from political, ethnic and religious backgrounds. That's my passion, that's for what I stand for on stage.
How did you get into music and what were /are your influences?
My father died when i was 13. In my grief I took refuge in music and discovered the love for singing. My influences was the soul music of the 50's and 60's like Elvis, Diana Washington, Etta James, Otis Redding, Billie Holiday and James Brown and later in life Amy Winehouse.
Which partners / artists have inspired / accompanied you on your way and how?
Most of all my wonderful and lovely fans, who have been there for 11 years, ever since I started my career and who are still loyal to this day. My friends inspire me every day, too! I was inspired by Amy Winehouse since 2006.
How would you describe your music or your sound?
My music is full of energy and passion, it sounds unusually different. My voice is very special and unique. It is modern retro soul, Motown, a little bit jazz, enjoyment of life and funk. My new songs are swing pop, written in German language, for the latest released song "Sing mit mir" I will create a music video and asked everyone on social media to take part and be in it. On 15th of August I'll release my next single "Lass mich sein".
What was your most formative experience in your career so far?
The most formative experience were definitely my concert trips to the soldiers in the war zones since 2011. Afghanistan, Iraq, Mali, Kosovo. But also lately my TV Show "All Together Now".
Can you tell us about highs and lows of your music career so far. How did you tackle it and what have you learnt from it?
Actually, in 2019 I was close to the big breakthrough. But now, after the pandemic and the general world situation, it is very difficult to move forward. It's quite hard to get a good record deal these days and get financial support from it. There is a lack of courage for new styles and there are hardly any opportunities to present yourself in the media. The public radios rarely play unsigned artists. This makes it almost impossible to reach the masses. And social media is not what we live musicians need to get onto the big stage. All I really learned was to persevere and be patient.
How did you hear about MusicHub and why did you choose our platform to distribute your music?
I found out through my account with GEMA that MusicHub is a partner. I had been unhappy with my old distributor for a long time. MusicHub is easy to use, very understandable and above all the support is absolutely great and reliable.
Tell us more about your latest MusicHub release.
My latest release is my song "Sing mit mir", which emerged when I stood in front of the mirror and was distraught over the dire situation of artists in the pandemic. That's when I came up with the idea for the song. During that time I got to know my new producer Hans Jürgen Trucks, who created this wonderfully refreshing music with me and thus, opened up a whole new drawer for me. I love it, it's so contagious, full of good humor.
What goals do you still want to achieve? What are your plans for the future?
My goal is to get a real good record deal and play a great concert tour with my band. So that my fans all over the world have a chance to see me perform.
