What is your artist name? Can you tell us a bit about how your project came about?

I make music under the name "Amira Rosa," which is simply my real name. It happened naturally at first, and then I actively decided to keep it. Right now, it feels most authentic to me, even though I sometimes wish I had more "separation" in my mind between Amira Rosa and just me, Amira. That would probably be easier with a different artist name. I always say I'm a solo artist with a permanent band, and the fact that my music sounds the way it does now has a lot to do with them. I would say Amira Rosa existed long before this band lineup, but the Amira Rosa sound, as it is now, only came into being when the others joined.

How did you get into music and what are your influences?

My dad is a keyboardist, and music was always a part of our home. Although I believe that the music I was exposed to as a child - especially world music, jazz, and everything that sounded non-Western - is hardly heard in my sound, it may have given me a certain "can't be done - doesn't exist" attitude when it comes to harmonies and arrangements :) I was lucky to get piano lessons very early on and to be able to experiment a lot in my music school. At some point, I played one Adele song after another on the piano and then started singing along. At 13/14, I was a Casper & Prinz Pi fan, generally an indie rap fan, which is probably the origin of my love for German lyrics, even though other music phases came in between :)

Which partners/artists have inspired/accompanied you on your journey and how?

In the last three years, I think I've been most inspired by seeing people on stage who I know personally. It has made the magic of the stage even bigger for me. Really knowing that these are completely "normal" people, but then they get on stage and can engage you, touch you, make you dance, etc... I don't know, but it sometimes feels like magic haha.

How would you describe your music or your sound?

I make indie pop (without guitar haha!), with a lot of love for acoustic instruments, lyrics, and a pinch of melancholy :-)

What was your most formative experience in your career so far?

Probably the few tour stops where I was allowed to open for Pohlmann. It was so incredibly exciting for me to be on the road with musicians who have been doing this for so long and to get a first glimpse into this tour world.

Can you tell us about the highs and lows of your musical career? How did you overcome them and what did you learn from them?

I'm just enjoying the highs right now, and every low in my personal experience has always been related to overwork. What helped me get out of it was always a mix of talking to friends from the music bubble and distracting myself with those "outside" of it. Making it clear to myself that things take time and working on my own expectations. Letting others take tasks off my hands. And using therapy, even preventively(!).

How did you come across MusicHub and why did you choose our platform?

Through GEMA, and if I'm honest, because MusicHub is free for GEMA members. If musicians are already barely making anything from streaming, they shouldn't have to pay on top of that. Also, you have a great overview and helpful tutorials etc!

Tell us more about your latest MusicHub release.

"Ausblick" is the first single from my upcoming EP and tells of the gently dramatic break from old habits, the "moving-away-from-home moment" and asks the question: What do I take with me? What's chasing after me and who am I without my surroundings? The slightly different "head-in-the-clouds" feeling, for all those who sometimes can't quite keep up with themselves. :>

What goals do you still want to achieve? What are your plans for the future?

Ahh, there's a lot. Of course, first release the EP, a release concert is in the planning, would love to play a lot next year and then start on the album!
